How to Automatically Create Restore Point Every Day in Windows

System restore is really useful when something goes wrong, so you can easily rollback the entire system to the time where restore point has created. Hence, Windows doesn’t need to be reinstalled and you can still use it as it was. Basically, Restore Point is generated manually from System Properties but you can take the advantage of Windows Defender to create Restore Point automatically each day.

Windows Defender scans the whole system every day to see if the vulnerable directory exists or cleaning unwanted programs. By join forces with Group Policy Editor, you can set Restore Point to be created at the same time when Windows Defender is working its duties.

The Restore Point would backup Windows Settings, registry configuration, system files, along with drivers component. Since it runs in the same field with Windows Defender, it should not burden CPU and RAM even though you work on something with PC.

In order to automatically create Restore Point every day, please ensure that the Windows Defender (Windows Security) is running properly. This method should be available for Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 10.

Step 1
Launch the Run program or simply by pressing WINDOWS+R button simultaneously. Type gpedit.msc and click OK.

On the left sidebar, you can see the folder directory. Go to Computer Configuration → Administrative Templates → Windows Components → Windows Defender Antivirus → Scan. For quick searching, click on the arrow icon of the folder’s name.

Step 3
After you are on the expected directory, double-click on the Create a system restore point.

Now, select Enabled and click OK to confirm new policy.

Close all windows and reboot your device. The Windows Defender x Restore Point should be activated immediately.

On Windows 10 operating system, Windows Defender still in used despite you might already installed a third-party antivirus program. However, the scanning features would keep runs unless you disable it. In order to rollback to the latest Restore Point, go to Start Menu and search for “System Restore”. Then, follow the next instructions on the screen.

Please note that by default Restore Point is only capture certain files that considered to be important for the system. It might not store gigantic video files or programs.
