3 Ways to Disable Nvidia GeForce Experience Run on Startup

GeForce Experience is software that made by Nvidia that dedicating all its capability to optimize gaming performances on the computer. This driver-based software usually installed on the computer that attached GTX graphics card. Yet, some people just rarely put their machine as the game console, the GeForce might not really useful. If you looking a way to disable Nvidia GeForce Experience run on startup, I’ve some ideas.

#1 Disable Nvidia GeForce Experience from Startup settings

Windows 10:

  1. Right-click on the Taskbar
  2. Select Task Manager
  3. Go to Startup tab
  4. Locate the Nvidia GeForce Experience
  5. Click Disable and then restart the computer

Windows 7/Vista:

  1. Open Start Menu
  2. Type “ms config” (without quote)
  3. Open that program
  4. Go to Startup tab
  5. Locate the Nvidia GeForce Experience
  6. Click Disable and then restart the machine

Note: Several latest GeForce driver is probably no longer shows on the Startup list. Therefore, this option might not work. 

#2 Uninstall the GeForce Experience from Control Panel

The GeForce Experience is uniquely designed to enhance gaming quality that matches with the hardware capability. In case you don’t take a computer performance as the gaming machine, this software can be removed but graphics driver still going fine.

To uninstall GeForce Experience, click the Start icon, type “Control Panel” and open that program.

Now, select the Uninstall a program option.

The software will immediately be removed from the startup list without restart. Again, the driver and all other features of the GPU will work properly albeit without GeForce. If you change your mind, you can always download the GeForce Experience software here.

#3 Disabling GeForce Experience from Services configuration

Please note that this method will be disabling both GeForce and Nvidia driver settings that previously run in the background program. Although you disable it, the display still can perform normally with no error. But you won’t get new notification update for the driver.

First, open the Start Menu, type “services.msc” (without quote) and open the program.

You will see hundreds of item list, locate the NVIDIA Display Container LS, right-click on it, and select Properties.

On the Startup type, select Disabled (or you can choose Manual otherwise), then click Apply and OK.

Restart the machine to take effect. If you change your mind, you can revert the setting to the Automatic and the program will run as it was. You also can open the program manually through installed app list.

Tips when installing Nvidia graphics driver

The GeForce Experience is actually part of the Nvidia driver, but the user has a choice to not install it along with the driver software. When you conduct a driver installation to a new PC, make sure you pick Custom Installation, remove the checkbox of GeForce Experience, and follow the instructions.
